Tropical Storm Amanda moves into Central America: NHC

TAMPA, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Amanda is moving into Central America from the Pacific. There is a 40% chance that an area of medium pressure will develop over the next 48 hours.

Eastern Pacific Tropical Storm Amanda is centered inland over southeastern Guatemala. According to NHC's 8 a.m. update Sunday, the chance it moves into the southern Gulf and develops is now up to 50% within the next 5 days.

"The remnants of Amanda are expected to move northwestward within a broader area of disturbed weather, possibly emerging over the southeastern Bay of Campeche on Monday," NHC says.
