Dunedin is celebrating its roots.

The city is hosting its Annual Orange Festival at Edgewater Park downtown Dunedin.

As many as 3,000 people are expected to attend the 12-hour fest, which began at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Festival-goers will spend the day browsing among the arts and crafts vendors, enjoy the food, sway to the music and watch children dashing around the play area.

The citrus industry has a long history in the central Pinellas County community, dating back to the 1800s. In the late 1880s, 80% of the property which makes up current Dunedin was dedicated to the citrus industry.

Today's Dunedin is a scenic community of cozy bungelows and quaint shops.
