The Presidential polls you should trust

How Presidential election polling works
Posted

There are exactly two weeks left before the Presidential Election and it seems like there are more presidential polls out than ever before.

ABC Action News political analyst Dr. Susan MacManus is giving us the three things we need to look for when deciding if a poll can be trusted.

"Polls that are 400 or 600 people are a lot less reliable than polls that are 1000 or 1200,” says Dr. MacManus.

These polls post all the specifications at the bottom of the survey and if that information isn’t readily available, Dr. MacManus says you should discard the poll altogether.

You also want to take a close look at who was polled? Are they characterized as registered voters or likely voters? Dr. MacManus says “registered voter” polls are more reliable, historically.

There are more pointers where that came from though. Watch the full video for more on polls in your area.
