Tampa man wanted for murder of woman in North Carolina

Police say he is 'armed and dangerous'

DURHAM, N.C. — A Tampa man is wanted for the murder of a woman found in North Carolina Sunday morning.

Durham police said officers responded to an assault call at 2:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of Capstone Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a woman dead inside a home. Police later identified the victim as 28-year-old Jessican Cortez Luna from Tampa.

Police said Jorge Maya Gomez, 28, from Tampa is wanted for the murder of Luna.

He was described as 6'1, tall, thin build with short brown hair and a long goatee.

Gomez was last seen leaving the area in a black 2016 Chevy 1500 Silverado truck with a North Carolina license plate HEW-3881.

Police said Gomez is considered to be armed and dangerous.

This is an active investigation.
