PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a newborn baby died after being left inside a hot car in Florida’s Panhandle.

Bay County Sheriff's officials say the baby had likely been left inside the vehicle for several hours on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies and rescue crews were called to the home in Panama City late Wednesday. But the child could not be revived.

News outlets report the temperatures reached the low 90s in Panama City on Wednesday. Officials offered few details about the case on Thursday.

The sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation and will be speaking to witnesses to establish a timeline.
