An ABC affiliate in Orlando reportsthat the Pulse nightclub, where 49 people were gunned down in what became the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, will reopen at a new location, according to the club’s owner, Barbara Poma.
In an interview with Poma, the station learned that she is actively looking for a new location to "fill a community need and to make sure hate doesn't win."
Plans are already in place for a memorial and museum on the site where the club is now, which will "serve to comfort the bereaved now and educate future generations about the importance of tolerance."
A town hall is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6 in Orlando regarding the memorial.
In the meantime, WFTV reports that Poma is actively looking at sites that have plenty of parking, are not in a residential area, and are affordable.
