TAMPA, Fla. — A South Florida judge is reported to be among the shortlist of nominees to fill the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat.

Politico reports that South Florida Judge Barbara Lagoa is among the shortlist President Donald Trump has to proceed the late justice.

The publication has reported the Cuban-American is a conservative who can help sway the vote for Republicans in the November election.

It's reported Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott are the support behind her.

President Trump is said to announce his list of nominees soon with federal appellate Judge Amy Coney Barrett among the shortlist of names.

Democrats are crying foul on the push to fill the seat with election day about six weeks away.

Presidential nominee Joe Biden has urged senate republicans to oppose a confirmation vote if it is brought before them.

This comes after Republicans refused to consider former President Barack Obama’s nominee in 2016 because the election was nine months away.

President Trump is scheduled to visit Florida this week.

It's unknown if he will announce his list of nominees in the swing state and if that name will include Judge Lagoa.
