SUMMERFIELD, Fla. -- A Florida man was arrested on Sunday after deputies say he burned a church's American flags.
On Friday, Marion County deputies were contacted by the pastor of the Congregational Church in Summerfield. The pastor told deputies that two American flags that hung at the front of the church for Veteran’s Day were found burned.
When the pastor reviewed the church's surveillance footage, they saw a suspect, later identified as Joseph Michael Allegretto, 50, lighting the flags on fire.
Deputies found and arrested Allegretto who later admitted that he set the flags ablaze.
Allegretto was charged with Criminal Mischief and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.
