NAPLES, Fla. — On Dec. 8, Brendon Dawson, 32, of Naples, was arrested for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home, changing the locks, and setting up a camera. The victim claims this is not the first time he has entered her home unwelcome. Police also found several drugs and paraphernalia in his possession.

A neighbor called police to 1575 Curlew Ave., when she found the victim's dog roaming outside the four-unit complex. She noticed the door to the victim’s unit was wide open, so she took the dog out front and called police.

Upon arrival, officers remembered the address from a recent attempted break-in call.

Police say there was heavy damage to the unit’s door, and it looked as if someone dismantled the entire lock. When they knocked, a man emerged from under a blanket on the living room couch. He identified himself as Dawson and told police he was not aware that his dog had run out.

The house was in shambles with trash thrown about, broken pictures hanging in the hallway, and drawers in the bedroom pulled open and gone through, according to police.

Officers reached the victim through contact information listed in the previous attempted break-in report. She told them Dawson did not have permission to be in her home. Dawson was detained as officers waited for her to arrive.

Police found Dawson's backpack which held an eight-inch curved blade, 35 Amphetamine and 34 Clonazepam pills, several prescription medications, and two cut straws used to ingest narcotics.

When the victim arrived, she noticed a camera at the entrance of her unit and that there was a wire running through her window. She told police Dawson must have set it up while she was gone and that he has been invading her home for the past three weeks. The victim says she is afraid he has set up other cameras around the property that she has not found yet.

She told police the lock on the door was not hers, and that Dawson must have changed the locks. She said he has attempted to change the locks on her residence three separate times.

The victim claims Dawson will not stop texting, calling, or threatening her and her daughter. She also caught him breaking in while she was sleeping. She woke to Dawson standing over her, staring at her while in bed.

Dawson was arrested and is facing several charges including of armed burglary, video voyeurism, carrying a concealed weapon, stalking, and multiple drug charges.
