The Florida Gators football community is mourning the loss of a beloved figure.
According to the University of Florida, George Edmondson, known to Gators fans as "Mr. Two Bits," died Tuesday at the age of 97.
Edmondson was known for starting every Gator home football game with the phrase, "Two-bits, Four-bits, Six-bits, a dollar. All for the Gators, Stand up and holler!"
The beloved superfan and unofficial cheerleader led fan chants for about 60 years, before retiring at the end of the 2008 college football season.
A celebration of life will be held in Tampa in August and details will be released at a later date, the school said in a release.
Edmondson is survived by his wife, Jane, as well as three children, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
