Area of low pressure over Bahamas has low chance of development, will bring rain to Tampa Bay area

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low pressure over the Bahamas, but don't worry, it should only make for a wet weekend throughout Florida.

According to the NHC, the area of low pressure has a 20 percent chance of development over the next five days.

As the moisture pushes north the next few days, it is expected to bring increasing rain chances starting Thursday. The rain could be heavy at times.

Earlier this month, Colorado State researchers predicted a slightly below average hurricane season.

Hurricane season begins June 1, 2019.
