Woman drives SUV into Spring Hill home

Hernando County Sheriffs's Office officials investigated a SUV that went into a home at 7480 Pinehurst Drive in Spring Hill.

"I happen to look down the hallway in time to see this couch coming through the house," said homeowner Mark Watson.

Watson was prepared for Tropical Storm Colin but not for what came through his home on Monday.

"This is our family room, you don't ever expect that to happen,"said Watson.

Just as the rain began falling, a driver of an SUV lost control making a turn off nearby Pinehurst Drive.

The driver was able to miss three trees before plowing into Watson's living room where his brother and one year old niece were sitting.

"The crib usually sits pretty much where this cable outlet is," said Watson.

The impact sent the child's crib across the room. Both she and her father are recovering at a local hospital where they are expected to be ok.

Pieces of concrete now cover the floor usually covered by the six children who live in the home. So while they weren't prepared for this, he says someone else fortunately was.

"We could have been talking about a death, so thank god," said Watson.

The driver of the SUV was not injured but was cited for the crash.
