On April 21, 2018, the City of Tampa will hold it’s 30th Paint Your Heart Out event.

The non-profit puts on the one day event where they paint houses of low income, older adults and it’s all done for free.

"This is a life changing event. These are people who have lived in these homes for many years,” said Dan Martucci, Chairman of Paint Your Heart Out.

During the one day event, 2,500 volunteers spend 14,000 volunteer hours and use 1,400 gallons of paint on 100 homes in need of a fresh coat of paint.

The organization does more than just paint the homes, too.

"We have TECO's weatherization program which is free to the homeowner,” said Kathryn Pantelis, who has spent more than 20 years volunteering. “We also have the fire department installing smoke detectors."

The organization hasn’t quite reached it’s 100 home limit for this year’s event, so if you or someone you know needs a fresh coat of paint, call 813-258-4512.
