Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a fatal house fire in South Tampa on Tuesday night.

Dispatchers received reports of a fire at a home on the 1600 block of S. Arrawana Avenue in the Golfview neighborhood.

When crews arrived on scene around 9:34 p.m., they found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the single-story brick-and-stucco house.

Firefighters entered the home and began fighting the fire. It took them about twenty minutes to bring the fire under control.

During a search of the home, they found a 72-year-old woman deceased in the room believed to be the source of the fire. Investigators determined that the fire was accidental and likely started due to smoking in the presence of bottled oxygen.

The victim was identified as Constance Bess Rynder.

Damage to the structure and its contents is estimated at $40,000.
