The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce has launched a new service to help get vital information to you directly on your phone.

According to their Facebook page, the free community text messaging service alerts you as soon as a Tampa Bay beach faces an emergency. The purpose behind it is "so residents and businesses are able to form a plan to act safely and immediately."

To sign up and receive messages, all you have to do is text TBBCoC to 72727.

If you only want to receive targeted information, you should text the following keywords to 72727:

  • TBBeaches — Local Community News
  • TBNetwork — Networking Opportunities
  • TBGovernment — Government Affairs Information

The service is free to join and open to everyone. Standard messaging rates may apply.
