A fatal accident closed eastbound traffic on the Gandy Bridge.  According to Tampa Police, a motorcycle and a vehicle collided around 10 p.m. Sunday night.

All lanes eastbound lanes of the Gandy Bridge were closed while police investigated the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Anthony Dorofy, 43, of Brandon, was traveling on his 2011 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on the upper deck of SR-618 at mile-marker 14 in the outside lane.

Lori De La Gardelle, 60, of Valrico, was driving her 1998 Chevy truck ahead of Dorofy's motorcycle. She was traveling at a slower rate of speed. Dorofy rear-ended the trailer towed by Gardelle and was ejected from the motorcycle into the roadway. A 2017 Mercedes E300, driven by Cecile Nash, 69, of Valrico, struck the ejected motorcyclist. Dorofy sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
