The city of St. Petersburg and Pinellas Technical College are teaming up for a career fair Wednesday, June 29. Dozens of local employers are participating and even doing on-site interviews.
Mayor Rick Kriseman says it's part of the city's efforts to reduce poverty, by getting people jobs. The event is really just a launching pad for a series of employment initiative it plans to offer to the community.
"It's part of the commitment I made several months ago, where we talked about the city making an investment of up to $1 million in both job creations, creating programs, like apprenticeship programs, where people can get the training that they need to help them get a job that pays a doggone good wage and that's what we want to see happen," Kriseman said.
The career fair runs through 6pm Wednesday at Pinellas Technical College. If you can't attend, you can contact the St. Pete Urban affairs director, at Nikki.Capehart@stpete.org.
