St. Petersburg Police are trying to track down a killer.  Police found 40-year-old Sheridan Thompson shot to death inside his SUV near Wildwood Park Sunday morning.

A neighbor saw the vehicle parked in the park office driveway and it was still running.  When he walked up to the SUV, he saw the passenger window was down, and inside, Thompson was slumped over the steering wheel covered in blood. He then called 911.

"Actually I was just telling my family it's time for me to move. I've been here two years. I'm kind of nervous. You know, some of the bullets could've come through the house here. It's kind of freaky," said neighbor Joe.

Sheridan Thompson leaves behind four children. They say their dad had turned his life around recently, attended church regularly, and was getting more involved in their lives.  So the family can't understand why anyone would want to kill him.

They're now pleading for answers about what happened.

"He didn't deserve this.  He was a good man.  He has four kids he was looking after.  It's so heartbreaking," said son Sheridan Thompson, Jr.

"I can't talk to him no more.  I can't hug him no more.  I can't kiss him no more.  Put yourself in my shoes and please just come forward with any information.  Please," said daughter Shaderiah Thompson.

There are currently no suspects in the homicide investigation.  If you have any information about the case, contact St. Pete Police or CrimeStoppers.
