PARC $5 unclaimed clothing sale helps those in need

Posted

PARC, a non-profit that helps people with special needs, is holding an unclaimed clothing sale where everything is $5.

"All the stuff that you see, and all the supplies you see, and all the caring that you see here does take funding,"  said Karen Higgins, PARC president.

That funding sometimes comes from people donating things like wedding dresses, or people who forget their dry cleaning or don't want it back.

All those items left behind, get put on a rack and sold for $5. 100% of the proceeds go back to PARC to pay for things like art classes and helping get jobs.

"Right now, in our project search program, we have a young graduate working at  Johns Hopkins All Children's, and totally the same job as everybody else," Higgins said.

One participant in the PARC program just auctioned off one of her paintings for $7,000.

The unclaimed clothing sale is Friday, March 24 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a $50 donation, or Saturday, March 25 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. without a donation.

It will take place at J.W. Cate Recreation Center at 5801 22nd Ave. N. in St. Pete. Call (727) 341-6962 for more information.
