150+ women gathered in Williams Park in St. Petersburg Thursday to push for equal pay, more opportunities and legislation that supports women.

Many of them skipped work in order to join together to push for change.

The rally is organized by many of the same women who put together the large women's march that took over the streets of Washington, and many other places around the country, including Tampa Bay.

Organizers are encouraging women to wear red, skip shopping at major retailers and forego working today to show what "a day without women" would look like.

The World Economic Forum predicts the gender gap won't close until the year 2186. That's why many local women tell us they're fighting for change.

There are plenty of events tonight that you can get involved with. You'll find a full list here.
