Two men drinking alcohol together in St. Pete Beach turned into a deadly situation on Thursday afternoon.

51-year-old Bruce Wilson has been charged with second degree murder after he got into a physical altercation with 41-year-old Kenneth Darling.

Deputies say Wilson and Darling were drinking alcohol together at the western most end of 78th Avenue, adjacent to Blind Pass when the fight broke out. Wilson reportedly beat Darling in the head with his fists and witnesses say that he hit him in the face "six to seven times."

When deputies arrived on scene, they found Darling lying on the ground unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wilson was arrested without incident and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Alcohol impairment appears to be a factor in this incident.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
