A new state of the art movie theater is set to open in Riverview this March.
Riverview 14 GDX will be a unique movie-watching experience, with two enormous 70'x40' screens, the biggest in the Bay area according to Goodrich Quality Theaters COO Martin Betz.
Those two Giant Digital Experience (GDX) theaters also feature a multi-dimensional sound system called Premium Dolby Atmos, which allows guests to "feel the action."
"We're combining many speakers in this room, up to 60 or 70 speakers to create a life-like experience," Betz said.
There are 12 other theaters in the building, with the walls between every auditorium being IMAX rated sound walls and ensuring no sound bleeds through.
"We've gone to great lengths to prevent sound from being penetrated from one room to the other," he said.
Each theater is also complete with full-motion, plush leather recliners in stadium style seating.
The other unique thing about Riverview 14 GDX is its full service sit-down restaurant. "Features," a Gastro-Pub Restaurant and Bar offers fresh, never frozen dishes and a full bar.
Food can be eaten in the restaurant or taken inside the theater to enjoy.
"We're hoping not to distract anyone from the real reason they're here, and that is to have a premium movie-going experience," Betz said.
But the theater is still equipped with a concession stand with all the typical movie foods. The popcorn is popped daily, and popcorn refills are given for 50 cents. Refills on fountain drinks of any size are free.
The Goodrich theater rewards program offers new members a free soft drink or popcorn just for signing up.
The multi-complex also offers two party rooms for group events.
Riverview 14 GDX is the first Goodrich Quality Theater in Florida, though they operate 30 other multiplexes in other states.
The theater is scheduled to open some time in mid-March and will be at 10550 East Bay Rd. in Gibsonton, Fla.
