SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Two Sarasota County deputies are being praised after they saved a 10-month-old after she accidentally drowned in a pool in November.

On Nov. 28, deputies responded to a Venice home where a 10-month-old baby accidentally drowned in her family's pool.

Eight deputies arrived at the home, but the first ones there were Deputies Mike Nickerson and Tony Egoville.

When they arrived, the baby, Charlee, had no pulse.

Deputies Nickerson and Egoville began lifesaving efforts and performed CPR inside the home and in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

It was the longest Deputies Nickerson and Egoville have ever performed CPR in their careers, the sheriff's office said.

Charlee regained consciousness and was taken to All Children's Hospital where she was intubated for 10 days.

Deputy Nickerson stopped by and checked in on the family and Charlee's mom says she is doing great.

She says the deputies "will forever be a part of her family."

Deputy Nickerson has served for nearly 25 years. He said this will forever be one of the most impactful calls of his career.
