BRADENTON, Fla. — The Manatee County Sheriff's Office found a suspect hiding in a chimney after stealing a U-Haul Tuesday.

The suspect stole the truck out of Lee County. A deputy on patrol spotted the vehicle and followed it into a parking lot.

According to the sheriffs office, the suspect refused all commands from the deputy before leaving the scene in the stolen truck.

While attempting to leave the scene, the suspect rammed the stolen U-Haul into the side of the deputy's patrol car. The truck was found a short distance away while a search for the suspect took place.

Deputies found the suspect hiding in the chimney of a nearby business. He was arrested and charged with numerous crimes.

A handcuff key was found on a necklace the suspect was wearing, according to the Sheriff's office.

A female passenger was arrested at the scene. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
