SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say battered someone then tried to rob them Sunday afternoon.
It happened in the 3700 block of Cattlemen Road. The sheriff's office says the victim was trying to buy something through an online site. It's unclear if the site was Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace or something similar.
During the transaction, the sheriff's office says the suspect battered the victim then attempted to take their money and the item they were intending to buy.

He is described as a 20-year-old tall, thin, black male. He has short hair and was wearing a white t-shirt with black writing, and black tapered joggers.
He was driving a 4-door beige sedan, according to the sheriff's office.
Multiple witnesses came forward and deputies are at the scene canvassing the area.
