Sarasota officers said they arrested a man for selling drugs near a day care center.
Officers raided a home and a trailer at 1738 23rd St. in Sarasota where Donnie Brinson of Bradenton was selling drugs.
Officers seized:
- 165 grams of marijuana
- 33.7 grams of cocaine
- 51 oxycodone pills
- 7 morphine pills
- Gun magazine with ammunition
- Cargo trailer
The drug raid happened about two blocks away from the Children First center.
"Hopefully other dealers see that and say ok let me go elsewhere, I hope it doesn't happen at all, but if it's going to happen stay away from us," said director Philip Tavill.
He said students know lockdown drill procedures because of incidents like this drug raid.
"It's an unfortunate reality in our world, but we do have lockdown drills if violence happens near or at one of our facilities," said Phillip.
Brinson remains in the Sarasota County Jail.
