SARASOTA, Fla. — The group Wreaths Across America is in desperate need of donations at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
The group places wreaths on 12,000 headstones at the location during the holidays. They currently have enough funds for 8,000 wreaths.
“Donations are down, because we had a few storms this year so fundraising efforts to help our vets have gone to other places,” said volunteer Maverick Johnson.
Meshia Richardson is helping the effort because her husband is buried at the cemetery. She said the remembrance wreaths help honor the heroes buried at the cemetery.
“It’s breathtaking when you see it,” said Richardson.
A donation of $15 will buy a remembrance wreath for a veteran. Click here for more information.
