Sarasota Sheriff's deputies arrested and charged a woman for manslaughter after they say she sold a deadly dose of a synthetic opioid.

Investigators were first called to an apartment last August where they found a 34-year-old man dead from an apparent drug overdose.

The man's brother told deputies Melissa Winings told him she'd given the victim heroin and that he'd overdosed.

Winings had already taken off from the apartment by the time they arrived, but left her vehicle.

Investigators tracked the vehicle to Winings and through their investigation discovered recorded phone calls she had with her boyfriend Robert Rigby while he was in jail.

In one conversation, recorded the day before the deadly overdose, Rigby advices Winings how to make her supply less potent.

They arrested Winings last September after finding heroin inside her vehicle.

Now, after an autopsy report on the 34-year-old man, they're charging her for manslaughter.
