Earlier this month there was a drunk driving crash on Siesta Dr. near Higel Ave. on Siesta Key. Residents said the roadway is becoming dangerous.
A group of residents formed the group "Make Siesta Drive Safer." Dee Reams helped start the group with about a dozen home owners who live nearby.
"Part of the problem is the 40 mph speed limit that needs to be lowered," said Reams.
The group plans to have FDOT perform a traffic study in hopes that changes will be made to make the roadway safer.
The "Make Siesta Drive Safer" group will have its next meeting in two weeks.
