North Port Police Department says Charles Clark, 64, was in prison for molesting a child, however, once he was released, he continued his criminal acts and victimized another child from 1997 through 2004.
Clark will go back on trial from September 25 to 27 of this year. He faces 3 counts of sexual battery upon a child 12 years of age or older but younger than 18 years of age by a person in a familial or custodial authority. He faces a maximum potential sentence of 30 years in prison for each count.
Both women, now adults testified against him at the trial.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Craig Schaeffer said "There is nothing harder for a victim than walking into a room full of strangers and telling them about the most intimate and horrifying aspects of your life. The women who testified against Mr. Clark should be commended for their courage and resolve. It is because of them that Mr. Clark will spend his remaining years in prison and will never again make another child a victim."
