SARASOTA, Fla. — Sarasota Police officers are investigating a crash that left a bicyclist dead on Wednesday night.
According to police, at approximately 6:30 p.m. an adult male driver was traveling in 1100 block of N. Tamiami Trail when adult male bicyclist crossed into the path of the vehicle.
The bicyclist has died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The identities of those involved have not been released at this time.
The northbound and southbound lanes of North Tamiami Trail (US 41) closed between 10th Street and 12th Street as police investigated. They have since reopened.
