SARASOTA, Fla. -- For five years, Durisan has been manufacturing an alcohol-free hand sanitizer in Sarasota but right now, they’re busier than ever.

"We have been very busy. We have very little product but we’re manufacturing now 24 hours a day, trying to get everything we can out to the public," said Alexandra Lin, Business Development Manager for Durisan.

The company says they just added a third shift to try and keep up with demand.

"We are BZK based, Benzalkonium Chloride-based, instead of alcohol that’s our active ingredient," said Lin.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, however, recommends using hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol to protect against the coronavirus.

Durisan says scientific research shows their products protect users from bacteria for up to 24 hours.

"It’s a water-based mist, so you spray it on, and you rub it all around. So as you go through the day it does not come off, and you’re protected. It’s literally a protective glove," said Lin.

Durisan also makes surface wipes, which they say can kill the coronavirus.

Durisan says their products can be found at Walmart, Home Depot and Amazon, but they are working to catch up with demand right now.
