SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Department plans to announce important developments in an unsolved homicide that occurred in 1999.

"Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight will host a news conference Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., announcing important developments in the unsolved homicide of Deborah Dalzell," the Sheriff's office wrote in a press release.

On March 29, 1999, deputies were dispatched to Dalzell's Sarasota home on Colony Meadows Lane after co-workers became concerned when she did not show up for work. When they arrived, deputies found Dalzell deceased inside her home from an apparent sexual battery and subsequent homicide.

For years, Dalzell's photo and case information have been listed on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department "Unsolved Crimes" page.
