BRADENTON, Fla. — Police and deputies are investigating an attempted armed robbery that happened in Bradenton Tuesday night.

Police dispatchers received a call of an active shooter around 9:39 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter on 6225 East State Road 64.

According to Bradenton Police, the robbery attempt ended with the suspect shooting the store manager in the leg. The sheriff's office says a second suspect acted as a lookout.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says the first suspect demanded money but the store manager refused twice. The first suspect ran out of the store and second suspect followed, deputies say.

The manager followed the first suspect who fell as he tried to run out, according to deputies. The suspect shot the manager in the leg when he was within a few feet of him, deputies say. Both suspects then ran out.

A K9 officer attempted to track the suspect, but could not locate him.

The first suspect is described as a black male with an orange hat, white shirt, white shorts, white mask and black shoes.

Detectives are unsure if the suspects had a getaway vehicle parked nearby.

The sheriff's office says the suspects appear to match the same description of the suspects in two other armed robberies. One at a Palmetto Publix and one at a Bradenton Dollar General.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.

Paramedics transported the store manager to Blake Medical Center in stable condition.
