A 17-year-old was killed and a 14-year-old was injured in a shooting over marijuana edibles, deputies say.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office says around noon Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a shooting with injuries at Verna Bethany Road and State Road 64 East.

They found the 17-year-old dead at the scene, and the 14-year-old with obvious shooting injuries.

The younger teen was flown out to an area hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Detectives say the two victims and four other males (ages 14, 17, 19 and 21) were involved in a previously arranged transaction of medical marijuana edibles.

Both the victims and the suspects drove to the location and were sitting in their vehicles when the suspects reportedly tried to rob the victims of the edibles and multiple gunshots were fired at the victims.

Three of the suspects are now in custody, the 21 year-old suspect is still at-large, Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
