BRADENTON, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are searching for the hit-and-run driver involved in a crash that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.

Troopers say the unknown person was in a white Chevrolet van when they turned into the path of the 55-year-old motorcyclist on State Road 70. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Friday,

The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on SR-70, while the other driver was heading westbound.

Troopers say the van made a left turn across the eastbound lanes and hit the motorcyclist, who came to a final rest in the driveway of the Wells Fargo on 53rd Avenue West.

The van stopped briefly before driving away, according to FHP. The driver went through the Wells Fargo parking lot and turned right onto SR-70, then went north on 9th Street East.

The motorcyclist was taken to Blake Medical Center where she remains in critical condition. Her identity has not been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

Troopers are asking anyone with information to contact them at 239-938-1800 or call Crimestoppers. The white van would have suffered front end damage from the crash.
