A local animal rescue center is in need of help after rain and flooding jeopardized the animals' safety.
Honor Animal Rescue in Bradenton posted a photo on Facebook explaining that their ranch has been greatly impacted by Tropical Storm Emily. They are asking the public to foster or adopt the animals in order to get them out of the shelter to safety until the rain subsides.
Rob Oglesby is the director of the shelter. He said a combination of heavy rains and broken sump pumps caused the chaotic scene.
"This really caught all of us by surprise, we've never had this happen before," said Oglesby.
Oglesby said about all of the animals found temporary homes for the next few days.
Bradenton has had over 5.18" of rain just since midnight. Manatee County is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning.
