Crews ventilate building of Sarasota school after freon leak

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota County Fire Department responded to a possible chemical reaction at Oak Park School in southeastern Sarasota on Wednesday. 

Firefighters were dispatched to the school on Wednesday afternoon after smoke or fog was reported coming from a therapy pool building at the school. 

Children attending a day camp at the school sheltered in place while crews investigated, according to officials. 

The Sarasota County Fire Department determined there was a freon leak and ventilated the building. 

 

 

No injuries have been reported at this time.
