Hurricane season begins June 1. Manatee County leaders are launching a revised tool to help residents easily know which evacuation zone they live in.

"We need people to learn their level now so they aren't caught in a bad place when we have to issue an evacuation order," said Emergency Management Director Sherilyn Burris.

She said the tool uses historical date to measure which areas are likely to flood first. The tool can be accessed by clicking here.

"It's fairly simple, you type in your address and look for evacuation zone," said Burris.

Residents on Anna Maria Island thought the tool is going to be lifesaver. Anna Maria Island is usually one of the first areas in Manatee County to be evacuated.

"Anything that can help get us information is a good idea," said Jan.

Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties also have similar tools located on their websites.
