BRADENTON, Fla. — There’s a Christmas tree lot in Bradenton with a special purpose.

“People are literally saving men from addiction when they purchase a tree from us,” said Pastor Joe Hamblen.

Loving Hands Ministries gets a portion of the money from all the trees sold. The group helps men recover from addiction.

Matthew New struggled with opioid addiction for six years.  He said the program is saving lives.

“I actually overdosed two times,” said New.

Manatee County has been called the epicenter for overdoses, but deputies said the statistics show the overdose drastically dipping after arresting several dealers last year.

The group is selling trees from five to eleven feet tall.  For more information on the Christmas tree sale click here.
