MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 3-year-old boy died Saturday night in an apparent drowning after the kayak he was in overturned near Snead Island, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The young boy's body was recovered following a search and rescue effort with the sheriff's office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Deputies say it appears that the boy drowned.

Deputies say two kayaks capsized while they were returning to dock. Three people were rescued, but the toddler was unaccounted for. His body was found about an hour later.
It's unclear at this time if the child was wearing a life jacket.
FWC is continuing the investigation. No other information was immediately available.
