The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of their own Thursday.

Corrections Deputy Shaun Feverston, 28, was killed in a traffic crash in Manatee County on Thursday morning.

According to FHP, a 2013 Ford F250 towing a utility trailer, was traveling westbound on Moccasin Wallow Road at the intersection with Bud Rhoden Road. At the same time, Deputy Feverston was traveling in his 2014 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Moccasin Wallow Road, approaching the intersection with Bud Rhoden Road. The F250 proceeded forward making a left turn traveling into the path of the approaching Jeep Wrangler. The front of the F250 struck the front of the Jeep Wrangler. As a result of the impact, the Wrangler overturned onto its right side and came to a rest within the intersection. Deputy Feverston was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Deputy Feverston had been employed with the Manatee Sheriff's Office since 2013.

FHP says alcohol was not a factor in the crash and both drivers had their seatbelts on at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Ford F250 sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
