POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a mulch and brush fire Saturday night.
Officials said a mulch and debris fire was ongoing at Southern Softwoods at 2425 Lasso Road in Lakeland. The fire was dispatched at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday.

There were six units on scene as the fire was active. They are spanning parts of the 40-acre site.
Mulch, debris and pallets were burning in the fire. Firefighters were allowing the fire to burn itself out.
Officials said it should smolder all night and into Monday morning. There are still hot spots and smoke in the area.
No structures are in danger and there have been no reported injuries.
