Polk County deputies looking for driver who seriously injured 12-year-old girl in hit & run

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office are looking for the driver who seriously injured a 12-year-old girl in a hit and run crash on Monday, December 5. 

The crash happened about 100 yards south of Fairway Road on Marigold Avenue. 

Myrthel Michel, 12, of Poinciana, was crossing Marigold Avenue near Fairway Road when she was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling south on Marigold Avenue. 

Myrthel remains in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital with trauma related injuries. 

A witness told deputies that the vehicle was a recent model four door import sedan, possibly silver with square or rectangular tail lights. The witness told deputies that the vehicle slowed down after hitting Myrthel, but then took off away from the scene, heading south on Marigold Avenue. 

During the hit and run investigation, Myrthel's family had reported her missing to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. The family had seen her at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday. They are now with her at the hospital.
