Two arrests have been made in connection to the murder of 29-year-old Preston Burnett who was found dead in the woods.

Christopher Clardy, 39, and Jamie "Jamo" Garst, 30, were arrested for Burnett's murder, according to the Polk County Sheriff.

Clardy was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Garst was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Evidence.

Polk County Sheriff's Office in partnership with Heartland Crime Crime Stoppers had offered a $5,000 reward and later raised it to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for killing Burnett.

He was found dead in the woods at an old golf course in Lakeland on May 10. Officials say he was violently murdered. The Sheriff's office responded to the call at Skyview Golf Course property of Skyview Blvd. The golf course is permanently closed.

Burnett was reportedly involved in an altercation within the days preceding the incident. Deputies say he was homeless and moved between his ex girlfriend's house to that area.

They also say that whoever was mad at Burnett knew where his ex-girlfriend lives, and they believe someone was after him.

Polk County Sheriff's Office also says there's evidence people have lived on the abandoned golf course before.

Burnett's body was found when someone was cutting through to Skyview from Captiva.
