A program helping teachers and other public service professionals buy their own homes is picking up across the United States -- resulting in thousands of people requesting help.
Teacher Next Door with the slogan, 'Helping Teachers Realize Their Dreams' has been around for some time, but its mainly been from word of mouth.
Now, the program is processing a few thousand applications a month to help find grants, and pay closing costs for those who qualify.
The program is now expanding beyond just the teaching profession. They're reaching out to firefighters, police officers, nurses, and other public service professionals.
Going beyond that though, the Teacher Next Door program can help active duty military and veterans along with helping people get back on track because of bad credit issues.
