Police: Lakeland woman fatally stabs man during argument over synthetic pot

Lakeland Police arrested a 27-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing a man to death on Saturday.

Authorities say around 6:53 p.m. officers responded to a call a stabbing had just occurred at 702 Whitehurst Street. The responding officers found the victim, 20-year-old Devontae Poole of Lakeland, laying on his back in the front yard.

Police say a woman, later identified as Precious Colbert, was crying in the yard. Officers took the 27-year-old into custody.

Paramedics transported Poole to Lakeland Regional Health Center where he later died.

Detectives learned Colbert and Poole were arguing over synthetic marijuana, also known as Spice or K2.

Witnesses told detectives the Colbert and Poole got into a fight inside her car. When Poole arrived at his home, he exited the car. Authorities say Colbert got out of her car and pursued Poole. When she caught up with him, witnesses say she stabbed him in the chest with an unknown object she was holding in her right hand.

After completing their investigation, detectives arrested Colbert for Second Degree Murder.

Police report Colbert has previous arrests for Attempted Burglary, Larceny, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Failure to Appear.
