The Polk County Sheriff's Office says they arrested a man who reportedly stole a bike from a pawn shop in Lakeland on Wednesday in an effort to get bond money for his girlfriend.
Jason Smith, 37, reportedly stole a bike from out front of the West Coast Pawn Shop in Lakeland.
Deputies say they immediately recognized Smith. He was found and the bike was returned to its owner.
Smith has nine prior theft convictions and his misdemeanor was upgraded to a felony after he told deputies that he needed bond money for his girlfriend.
