POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies are investigating a deadly shooting at an illegal marijuana grow house in Polk County.

Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a shooting at a home in the 400th block of Fernandez Street in Wahneta a little before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, deputies found 50-year-old Raidel Armas Gonzalez suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead on scene and deputies later found out the home was an active marijuana grow house. Deputies said the grow house had more than 160 pounds of marijuana.

"This is another example demonstrating the connection between drugs, violence, and death," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a release. "Illegal marijuana cultivation is a large, dangerous and violent business."

The deadly shooting remains under investigation. Officials did not say if an arrest has been made.
