Two girls in Tarpon Springs are spending their free time sewing masks to help others stay safe.

Laura and Lilly Belly are sisters who both go to East Lake Middle School.

They've made more than 100 masks since COVID-19 began and are donating them all to family, friends, special needs children and businesses.

Their mom works at a local hospital. They know first hand the challenges and needs these health care workers are facing.

"The first one I made didn't look very good. It was too small and the sewing wasn't straight but now they look a lot better," says Laura.

The girls taught themselves how to sew.

"They've been really happy. They've been sending us pictures of them in their masks. Makes us feel really good," says Lilly.

The girls say they miss school and their friends but making these masks is helping them pass the time.
